How to read water consumption in the dyeing process

Five parameters to check before modernising a dyeing machine or recipe.

Water consumption rarely depends on one setting. The result is shaped by the machine design, recipe, material and the way rinsing is managed.

Start with the liquor ratio

The liquor ratio shows how many litres of liquid are used per kilogram of material. Analyse it together with the number of rinses, temperature and bath exchange time — a catalogue value never tells the whole process story.

  • measure the real load and bath volume
  • compare recipes from the same colour class
  • check whether extra rinses come from chemistry or machine settings

Modernisation starts with data

Only a combined view of water, energy, cycle time and colour quality shows whether the right answer is a recipe change, automation upgrade or a new machine.
